Mycoplasma medium foundation (containing arginine) is a liquid medium for mycoplasma separation and culture. Its basic components are bovine heart extract and peptone, the key additive is horse serum to provide sterols, and arginine is the specific energy source. This culture medium supports the use of arginine mycoplasma (such as mycoplasma hominis) to produce alkali through arginine deamination to make phenol red indicator turn red, and can inhibit the growth of miscellaneous bacteria by combining with selective inhibitors. It is a special tool for the separation and identification of mycoplasma in clinical specimens.
