TGC medium

TGC medium is a liquid medium for selective culture of oral microorganisms. Its basic components are tryptone and yeast extract powder, the key additive is sodium thioglycolate to reduce redox potential, and L- cysteine is used as reducing agent. This culture medium supports the proliferation of oral anaerobic bacteria (such as Porphyromonas gingivalis) by creating an anaerobic environment and adding special growth factors, and is an important tool for the microbiological study of periodontal disease.
