RV5 medium

RV5 medium is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Salmonella. Its basic components are peptone and mannitol, and its key additives are magnesium chloride, malachite green and sodium selenite, which can effectively inhibit coliforms and other miscellaneous bacteria. This culture medium creates a strong selective environment through high magnesium ion concentration and compound dye inhibition system, and promotes the dominant growth of Salmonella. It is the standard pre-enrichment solution for the detection of Salmonella in food, feed and environmental samples.
