Liquid tetrasulfate medium is a liquid medium for selective enrichment of Salmonella. Its basic components are peptone and beef extract powder, and its key additives are tetrasulfate and bile salt, which can effectively inhibit coliforms and other miscellaneous bacteria. Iodine-potassium iodide solution is temporarily added as oxidant. This culture medium creates a highly selective environment through the reduction reaction of tetrasulfate and promotes the proliferation of Salmonella. It is a standard pre-enrichment solution for the detection of Salmonella in food and environmental samples.
