Burkholderia cepacia selective agar (BCSA) is a solid medium for selective isolation of Burkholderia cepacia. Its basic components are casein amino acids and yeast extract powder, and the key additives are polymyxin B and gentamicin, which can effectively inhibit most gram-negative bacteria and some gram-positive bacteria. This culture medium supports Burkholderia cepacia to form typical colonies through antibiotic selection system, and inhibits the growth of miscellaneous bacteria at the same time. It is a special tool for detecting Burkholderia cepacia in respiratory tract samples of patients with cystic fibrosis and hospital environment.
