Vibrio thiobacillus medium is a liquid medium for selective culture of Vibrio thiooxidans. Its basic components are sodium thiosulfate and sodium bicarbonate, and its key additives are ammonium phosphate and trace element solution. This culture medium promotes the oxidation of sodium thiosulfate to sulfate by Geovibrio in neutral environment, which leads to the decrease of pH and the formation of barium sulfate precipitation. It is a special tool for the study of thiooxidants in soil and water.
