The improved R2A medium is a low-nutrient solid medium for resuscitation of damaged microorganisms in drinking water and environmental samples. Its basic components are yeast soaking, acid hydrolysis of casein and glucose, and the key improvements include increasing the concentration of sodium pyruvate and optimizing the proportion of trace elements. The culture medium can promote the recovery and growth of damaged colonies by prolonging the culture time (5-7 days) and poor nutrition conditions, and is a standard tool for water quality hygiene inspection and environmental microbial monitoring.
