Modified Dixon agar
Modified Dixon agar is a solid medium for selective separation of Malassezia. Its basic components are malt extract powder and peptone, and the key improvements include increasing Tween 40 concentration and optimizing lipid composition. By providing long-chain fatty acids and special lipids, this culture medium supports Malassezia to form a typical cream-colored colony, while inhibiting the growth of other fungi. It is a special tool for the study of dermatomycosis.
