Serratia culture medium

Serratia culture medium is a solid medium for selective separation of Serratia. Its basic components are peptone and glycerol, and its key additives are deoxycholate and ammonium ferric citrate. The culture medium inhibits Gram-positive bacteria by bile salts, and forms red colonies by using the characteristics of Serratia producing prodigiosin, which is a standard tool for identification of Serratia in clinical and environmental samples.
