Iron-reduced red blood cell medium

Iron-reducing red blood cell culture medium is a special liquid culture medium for studying the iron-reducing ability of microorganisms. Its basic components are peptone and yeast extract powder, the key additives are iron hydroxide as electron acceptor and resazurin as redox indicator. The medium supports the extracellular electron transfer process of microorganisms such as Geotrichum through anaerobic conditions and trivalent iron substrate, and the resazurin changes from pink to colorless to show iron reduction activity, which is an important tool for biogeochemistry and environmental remediation research.
