Haemophilus ducrae medium is a chocolate agar medium for selective isolation of Haemophilus ducrae. Its basic components are brain heart infusion and pancreatic peptone, the key additives provide X factor and V factor for heated sheep blood, and vancomycin is added to inhibit miscellaneous bacteria. The culture medium supports the formation of typical colonies by 5-10% CO environment and special growth factors, and is a gold standard tool for the detection of soft chancre pathogens.
