MJTSO medium

MJTSO medium is a liquid medium for selective culture of marine sulfur-oxidizing bacteria. Its basic components are sodium thiosulfate and artificial seawater, and its key additives are ammonium phosphate and trace element solution. This culture medium promotes the oxidation of sodium thiosulfate to sulfate by marine sulfur-oxidizing bacteria in a neutral environment, which leads to the decline of pH and the formation of barium sulfate precipitation. It is a special tool for the study of marine sulfur circulating microorganisms.
