Glucose fixed medium

Glucose fixed medium is a semi-solid medium used to study the fermentation characteristics of microbial sugar. The basic ingredients are peptone and beef extract powder, and the key additives are glucose and low concentration agar (0.3-0.5%). This culture medium can limit the diffusion of microorganisms through semi-solid matrix, and can simultaneously observe the acid production (phenol red turns yellow) and motility (diffuse growth) of sugar fermentation. It is a classic tool for identification of intestinal bacteria and physiological research of microorganisms.
