Pyrrolidone agar

Pyrrolidone agar is a solid medium for detecting the metabolic capacity of microbial pyrrolidone. Its basic component is inorganic salt solution, the key additive is pyrrolidone as the only carbon source and nitrogen source, and bromocresol violet as the acid-base indicator. This culture medium is an important tool for screening microorganisms that can decompose pyrrolidone through heterocyclic compounds, and the surrounding of positive colonies is purple due to alkali production.
