HM medium

HM medium is a chocolate agar medium for selective isolation of Haemophilus. Its basic components are brain heart infusion and pancreatic peptone, and the key additives provide X factor and V factor for heated sheep blood. This culture medium releases essential growth factors through blood heat treatment, and supports the growth of Haemophilus in 5-10% CO₂ environment. It is a standard tool for the detection of fastidious bacteria in respiratory specimens.
