CTA medium containing 1% glycerol is a semi-solid medium for detecting microbial glycerol metabolism. Its basic components are casein trypsin digest and yeast extract, the key additive is 1% glycerol as the only carbon source, and phenol red as the acid-base indicator. The medium forms a semi-solid matrix by low concentration agar, which can simultaneously observe the acid production (yellowing of the medium) and the movement characteristics (dispersion growth) of glycerol fermentation, and is a composite tool for microbial carbon source utilization spectrum analysis and movement identification.
