VCSM13 

VCSM13 is a widely utilized "helper phage" in molecular biology, particularly in phage display assays. It is not a conventional virus but a genetically engineered M13 filamentous phage whose primary function is to provide replication and packaging capabilities for phagemids. In phage display experiments, it is responsible for packaging the target gene from the phagemid into intact phage particles, which are then displayed on the viral surface for applications such as antibody screening and cDNA library construction. Additionally, it can be employed to produce single-stranded DNA (Single Strand Rescue) from phagemids.
