△ELY151 Yeast strain
△ELY151 Yeast strain
△ELY151 is a mutant strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae characterized by the simultaneous deletion of both MID1 and CCH1 genes. The proteins encoded by these genes constitute components of calcium ion channels in the plasma membrane, primarily responsible for mediating extracellular calcium influx upon stimulation by mating pheromones or other stimuli. Due to the double deletion of MID1 and CCH1, the calcium influx channel function in ELY151 is severely impaired. ELY151 serves as an essential model strain for studying calcium signaling pathways, calmodulin-dependent kinase activity, and the composition of calcium channel subunits.
