△ZHY3 Yeast strain

The ZHY3 yeast mutant is a model strain used to study zinc (Zn) transport functions; its defining characteristic is the knockout of two zinc transport protein genes—one with high affinity and one with low affinity—which renders the strain incapable of effectively absorbing zinc and necessitates the use of a high-Zn-containing culture medium for growth.
