YSL2-1 Chemically Competent Cell
YSL2-1 Chemically Competent Cell
YSL2-1 is an engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain that has undergone multiple gene knockouts. This strain has knocked out all of the yeast's major endogenous hexose transport systems: it has knocked out nearly all HXTs (HXT1–17) as well as GAL2, resulting in a complete loss of transmembrane uptake capacity for monosaccharides such as glucose, fructose, galactose, and mannose; meanwhile, it retains intracellular invertase while knocking out extracellular invertase, thereby blocking the extracellular sucrose hydrolysis pathway. It is widely used for functional validation of plant sugar transport proteins (SWEET, SUC, STP, etc.) and for heterologous complementation experiments, making it a classic host strain in the field of plant membrane protein research.
